2027 Maserati GranCabrio Folgore Facelift Brings a Sharper Face to the Electric Drop-Top

Maserati’s electric convertible is getting a nip and tuck for 2027, and the upcoming changes give us a clearer picture of what’s ahead. The 2027 Maserati GranCabrio Folgore facelift looks like a measured refresh rather than a top-to-bottom rework, with revised front and rear styling aimed at giving the slow-selling EV a bit more visual punch.

  • Front bumper and rear diffuser are getting fresh treatments for 2027.
  • Bodysides, mirrors, and rocker panels carry over to keep costs in check.
  • Maserati’s facelift arrives during a brutal sales slump, with figures down sharply in 2025.

What’s Changing on the Outside

Most of the visual story is already coming into focus. Reports point to a revised front bumper with larger air intakes and a fresh grille design, plus a reworked rear diffuser hinting at aerodynamic tweaks at the back. That last bit is something the Trofeo coupe isn’t getting, which makes the GranCabrio Folgore stand out a little more in the lineup.

Front bumpers will gain larger, more square lower side intakes and a reshaped rectangular central intake, not unlike the MCPura, which itself is an updated MC20. That family resemblance with Maserati’s halo car is a smart move. Rest of the bodywork has been left alone, so there won’t be any changes to the fenders and their trio of side vents, and the wing mirror housings and rocker panels carry over from the current car.

Why the Sharper Nose and New Diffuser Matter

For an EV like the Folgore, those bigger intakes do real work. Maserati has worked some magic on the side intakes tasked with cooling the front brakes. Better cooling helps the front brakes stay consistent during repeated hard stops, which matters a lot when you’re hauling down a 5,000-plus-pound electric drop-top from triple-digit speeds.

A reworked diffuser is more interesting. Folgore models already use a fairly subtle rear splitter without any standout aero elements, so the changes are likely to be modest rather than dramatic. Even small aero tweaks at the rear can clean up turbulence around the wheel arches and add a touch of stability at speed.

Performance and Powertrain Outlook

Don’t expect a wholesale powertrain overhaul. Buyers will still get V6 and full-electric options, and the 3.0-liter Nettuno engine in the Modena and Trofeo will see minor changes for 2027 to meet Euro 7 regulations. A bigger question hangs over the Folgore itself.

Equipped with a triple-motor setup, the Folgore is the punchiest spec available for 2026, good for 2.6 seconds from zero to 60 mph and capable of hitting 202 mph on the right summer performance tires. Headroom exists for more, too. Output is currently capped at 751 horsepower for stability and reliability reasons, although the 800-volt, 83-kWh battery pack, paired with silicon-carbide inverters derived from Formula E tech, could in theory put out more than 1,200 horsepower. Folgore models can already reach a temporary peak of 818 horsepower, and it’s possible that with the 2027 facelift Maserati may decide to raise this limit further.

A Brand Trying to Steady the Ship

Context matters here. Just 7,900 vehicles were sold in total back in 2025, and Stellantis has repeatedly been forced to quash rumors that it plans to sell Maserati, with sales falling by a shocking 30% last year. That financial reality is shaping the facelift’s scope.

Maserati likely has limited room in the budget for big updates, so any cabin revisions could be confined to new trim options or minor specification tweaks. On the tech side, though, a meaningful upgrade is brewing. Both the facelifted GranTurismo and GranCabrio should benefit from the STLA SmartCockpit architecture seen in the latest Stellantis North America models. That hints at a more modern infotainment experience even if the dashboard layout stays familiar.

When You’ll See It on Showroom Floors

Reports peg arrival of the refreshed Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio for some time in 2027. Whether those updates are enough to pull buyers back to a struggling brand is another matter. Folgore remains one of the most striking electric convertibles money can buy, and a sharper nose with cleaner aero only sweetens that pitch. If Maserati cracks the price-versus-performance equation, this facelift could be the quiet reset the drop-top needs to finally find its audience.
