Polestar is showing off with a new Polestar 6 Roadster that is extremely hot and ready to take on the big dogs of the EV world.
The Polestar 6 is arriving in 2026 as a street-legal electric convertible that puts out 884 horsepower and can go about 300 miles on a charge. This isn’t just another concept car – it’s actually hitting production with a price tag that’ll make your wallet weep, but performance that might just be worth it.
An electric halo sports car
It’s not a secret, electric cars can be hot and a lot of fun, and that’s exactly what Polestar is doing with its new electric convertible due to the market in 2026. This incredible EV should be a high-performance electric car that sits at the top of the Polestar lineup. This new model is based on the Volvo 02 concept car and has the same aluminum structure as the new Polestar 5 luxury sedan. While it’s based on another model, this new Polestar sports car is a chopped convertible hardtop coupe, which makes it a stunning and enticing EV.
Serious Polestar power
How would you like to drive an 884-horsepower luxury electric roadster? That’s exactly what you’ll find in the new Polestar 6 roadster, which is ready to rocket off the line. In fact, this dual-motor EV is expected to be quick enough to reach 60 MPH in as little as 3.2 seconds. The power and performance of this car could overshadow the eco-friendly production with excellent interior materials. The exciting part of the new Polestar is the incredible power that should deliver some serious performance when you get behind the wheel.
Electric vehicle performance you’re sure to love
The all-new Polestar 6 is the brand’s first convertible. It’s only been seen in concept versions so far, and depending on the publication you trust, it’s due to hit the market either next year in 2026, or later in 2028. Despite an extremely fast and impressive sprint time, this car should be limited to a top speed of 155 MPH, which is pretty normal for EVs. Still, when you rocket off the line, the power is astounding, and you’ll quickly reach 60 MPH, which means that you’ve left everyone else behind at the light while you take your ride out in front and enjoy what the open highway has to offer.
Going minimal in the cabin
The Polestar brand took a few pages out of the Tesla playbook. The interior design features a large central touchscreen and a small gauge reading behind the steering wheel. Most of the controls are located within the large screen, which is expected. This design gives the new Polestar 6 Roadster a minimalist interior design feeling, which allows the car to look elegant, sophisticated, futuristic, and clean. This dashboard style makes the car feel wider than it is, which should be enticing to new owners. There’s a large storage area in the center console and a knob for infotainment adjustments.
The cabin is more than just the dashboard, and there are two seats in the rear of this new Polestar. Of course, much like some previous sports cars and muscle machines, this new convertible roadster is a tight fit for anyone looking to sit in the back seat. It’s a small area and probably better used as a place to store your gear, which can go with you on the road.
Another new Polestar
It might feel like every time you turn around, there’s a new Polestar car hitting the market, and that feeling would be pretty accurate. The new Polestar 6 Roadster is the fourth new car in five years, provided it reaches the market next year. This car has been on reserve for many shoppers for the past few years, making it one of the hottest electric cars expected to reach the market soon. There’s a good chance this car will reach the market before the next Tesla Roadster, which means it should be the most desirable electric sports car that you can find.
Interesting manufacturing
The Polestar 5 serves as the foundation for the new model, which means some of the structural elements and processes carry over to the new 6. This new convertible is being built using a bonded aluminum platform, which means it does away with up to 4,000 rivets that are typically used in traditional car building. Usually, these rivets are necessary when the body shell is clamped together, but Polestar uses an adhesive with oven curing to substitute for the rivets. The advantage to this process is better rigidity, which means the car should be a little more dynamic on the road with tighter handling, high roll damping, and agile steering.
It’s a low-volume car
How many Polestar 6 Roadsters will there be? This new model is a low-volume car, similar to the hybrid 1, which was only built in a total of 1,500 units. The first 500 models will be called LA concept editions, which will feature the Sky Blue exterior, light leather interior, and 21-inch wheels that were shown off on the original 02 concept car.
There will be much more information as the release date nears and we learn more about the new Polestar 6 Roadster, which might arrive next year, or it could be a 2028 model that we don’t see for a few years.
