This Gas-Powered Charger Will Hit Dealers in H2 2025
The L-platform Dodge Charger was discontinued in 2023. Next year, a five-door internal combustion version will hit the local Dodge dealer.
A press release put out in late February by FCA US LLC revealed that a new Charger will soon be available at the local Dodge dealer. The Charger SIXPACK is slated for release in the second half of the year.
What Sets the SIXPACK Apart?
The Dodge Charger Daytona will begin shipping to dealers in the first half of 2025, but it’s a different beast. First introduced in 2024, the all-electric three-door liftback is now in its second year.
The SIXPACK can be seen as more similar to the L-platform Chargers, but there are still noteworthy differences between the older models and the newest iteration.
The SIXPACK will feature standard AWD, which was only available on the Pentastar version of the former Charger. Dodge has also been clear that the new Charger will include wet/snow modes that come standard across trim levels.
The new Charger will also feature a mechanical rear-axle LSD to improve traction on slippery surfaces. Finally, it will get a drift/donut mode that switches the SIXPACK to RWD and turns the electronic control system off.
Not everyone views the change in engine from the Hellcat to the Hurricane as an improvement to the Dodge SIXPACK. However, plenty of experts are still impressed with the 3.0L Hurricane twin-turbo engine’s abilities, with Standard Output hitting 420 HP and High Output making 550 HP.
The SIXPACK will feature an eight-speed automatic transmission based on the 8HP from ZF. The 880RE Gen4 transmission is good for 600 lb-ft of torque.
Improvements in the New Dodge Chargers
Not everyone sees standard AWD as an improvement over the Charger SIXPACK’s RWD predecessors. However, there are a few noteworthy differences that few will argue against as upgrades.
Stellantis improved the maximum output for the R/T models to 496 HP and bumped the Scat Pack up to 670 HP for the 2025 release. The R/T now requires just 4.7 seconds to make it from 0 to 60, and the Scat Pack accomplishes this goal in 3.3 seconds.
What to Expect for Pricing
The Dodge Charger Daytona‘s highest trim level lands outside many drivers’ price ranges, though even the Scat Pack models are marginally cheaper than the last Hellcat-powered Charger released in 2023.
The Charger Scat Pack started at $73,985 for the 2024 model year. The 2024 R/T is cheaper at $59,595 starting MSRP.
Experts believe the Charger SIXPACK may be more affordable. Dodge is already offering great incentives, which many assume means the demand isn’t there yet. Starting the SIXPACK at a lower MSRP could generate additional interest.
When to Contact a Dodge Dealer
Drivers will have to wait a while before getting their hands on an internal combustion 2025 Dodge Charger SIXPACK. However, they can still contact a local Dodge dealer sooner to get more information about the newest addition to the Charger lineup.
