The new Lucid Gravity base trim was revealed at the LA Auto Show 2025, presenting potential buyers with a more affordable option than other trims.
The Lucid Gravity has been on the market for two years, but the base model has been missing from the mix. The brand promised a more affordable version of its all-electric SUV. While an $80,000 price tag doesn’t make it truly affordable, it’s a lower price than other trims offered. This new version could appeal to a much larger audience, and it is a great alternative to Tesla’s electric SUVs.
What does the Lucid Gravity Touring give you?
After two years of promises, Lucid delivered on its word at this year’s LA Auto Show with the Gravity Touring trim. Starting just under $80K, the base model gives you 337 miles of range, seats for seven, and still packs 560 horsepower. It’s a whole $15,000 cheaper than the Grand Touring version, making this luxury electric SUV a bit easier to swallow for buyers who want the tech and space without the six-figure price tag. Orders are open now, and some configurations are ready to ship in weeks.
The Lucid Gravity base trim is a more affordable luxury EV
A luxury EV that slides in under $80,000 at a $79,900 base price might not be considered exactly affordable, but that figure is quite a bit less than the higher-end Grand Touring trim. In addition to the impressive power and driving range, the new Touring trim has an NACS charging port, which means you can plug it in at the local Tesla Supercharger station and fill the batteries at a 220-kW rate. The Touring model gives you the AWD system you want from the dual-motor setup, ensuring you have the added control desired on any road. For just a small comparison, the Grand Touring model has 828 horsepower, but if you don’t need that much power, the Touring model should be great.
The tech you want in this seven-seat electric SUV
With electric SUV pricing in the Lucid Gravity range, the tech has to be stellar. Thankfully, it is. The dashboard presents you with a massive 34.0-inch curved display screen that gives you every reading you want. The display sits above the dashboard and looks extremely similar to the one found in the Air sedan, with a slightly different layout. The next-generation infotainment software is present, giving you the quick and decisive responses that you need. There’s a second display mounted to the right of the steering wheel, giving you access to more vehicle functions, such as climate controls. In order to keep your focus on the road, the Gravity has a head-up display with an augmented reality navigation system.
Is now the right time to expand the Gravity lineup?
Lucid is in a tough spot with the Gravity. The brand expanded its lineup from the Air sedan only two years ago, adding the Gravity Grand Touring model. Since that time, the demand for EVs has waned, and that could make it extremely hard to sell a new electric SUV. Adding the Lucid Gravity base model is a step in the right direction, allowing more customers access to the Lucid lineup. Thankfully, Lucid isn’t in a position to be a volume automaker and can continue to rely on its boutique position for sales, but that is still a bit risky.
The new Touring trim might not make sense to some experts. Lucid’s position on the market means each model is expected to be top-notch and this change in $15,000 from one trim to another means the lower trim is a bit stripped down compared to the higher trim. That could be a problem for the brand and for some drivers.
“It’s a losing proposition. The lower trims make sense in theory, but in practice, it doesn’t materialize.”

Will the new Lucid Gravity base trim capture some Tesla sales?
Tesla is the volume leader in the EV world, and the Model X is the high-end luxury SUV offered by the brand. The new Lucid Gravity is aimed at the Model X, but pricing could be problematic. This new price point might be the sweet spot that allows some shoppers to choose the Gravity, but many drivers who are already spending $80,000 on a vehicle will often move up to higher trims and spend a little more.
Would you choose the new Lucid Gravity base trim or go for the higher-priced model with more range, power, and luxury features?
