A legend at any speed
Many words can be used to describe this legendary family of performances, but the only thing that captures all the perfection and engineering know-how that goes into every car – from the responsive LS to the supercharged ZL1 – is the Camaro.
The Chevrolet Camaro is a two-door, 2 + 2 piece American muscle car history. Like its decades-old rival, Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger, the Camaro is recognized even by those who do not follow or have a lot of enthusiasm for the car.
The classic formula has not changed: partying in front, business behind. Wait, that’s “Camaro hair.” The Camaro automotive formula is power up front, the wheels are driven on the rear performance and the style comes first.
The new Camaro was introduced in 2016. The series includes a 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, as well as V-6 and V-8 models, in coupe and convertible form.
For 2017, Chevy added a supercharged, 650-horsepower V-8 Camaro ZL1 for coupe and convertible. Also new is the 1LE handling package, the 50th Anniversary Edition package, the “FIFTY” badge on the steering wheel of all models, and the Teen Driver feature that allows parents to manage controls and review driving habits.

The new Chevy Camaro
The new Chevy Camaro rides the GM Alpha rear-drive architecture, shared with Cadillac CTS sedans and ATS sedans and coupes.
The new Camaro is significantly lighter and smaller than its predecessor, which gives the impression of more agile and better fuel economy. Styling is reminiscent of last-generation models with fewer sharp folds and a neater overall package, as well as a much more attractive cockpit, albeit with only the smaller rear seats.
Production has moved to Michigan, to the same factory near Lansing who built ATS.
Coupe and convertible body style is offered with a choice of four powerplants. They include 275-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder; V-6 335-hp, 3.6 liter; LT1 V-8 powered 455 hp, 6.2 liters; and a new 650-horsepower supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V-8. With each of these machines, there is a choice between a 6 speed manual gearbox or an automatic transmission. LT4 comes with 10 new auto speeds, while others get 8-speed auto. For turbo-4, GM estimates a time of 5.4 seconds 0 to 60 mph. It drops to 5.0 seconds with V-6. With a V-8-powered SS, it’s pegged at 4.0 seconds. ZL1 is even faster.
Inside, the sixth generation Camaro has a nice front seat space, but the back seat is very tight. Chevy offers MyLink version 7.0 – and 8.0 inch infotainment systems, both with Apply Car Play and Android Auto.
Chevrolet Camaro SS was named Best Author of Authority To Buy 2016, compared to its rivals such as Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang.

History of Chevy Camaro
Introduced in 1967 in response to the stunning Ford Mustang’s success, the Camaro experienced ups and downs in 50 years at a car location. Paired until the early 2000s with the Pontiac Firebird companion, the Camaro has been offered in six different generations as a two-door sports coupe, with V-6 or V-8 power and rear-wheel drive. Special editions include Camaro RS, Camaro SS, and Camaro IROC-Z, and convertible and T-top body styles.
Until 2002, GM had built the Camaro model every year for 35 consecutive years, but GM decided to kill muscle cars in 2002, ending production of composite-type Camaro in Canada.
The Camaro’s signboards are not revived until the 2010 model year, when the car is relaunched as a coupe. It maintains the same basic configuration-the choice of a V-6 or V-8 engine, a manual or automatic transmission, and a rear-wheel drive-but a bit larger than the car that preceded it. It uses a rear drive architecture that was originally planned for use across GM, including in Buick and Cadillac luxury vehicles, but recently found a house under the Pontiac G8, a handful of Holdens, a Chevy Caprice fleet vehicle, and a Chevy’s SS sedan. GM built this Camaro at its plant in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.
The fifth generation Camaro took a cue from the classic 1960s model. Pieces of homage include indentations such as vent in front of the rear wheels and eyebrows over the headlights. The inside of the Camaro uses a square meter and an additional meter at the base of the central pile, as well as an inner steering wheel that reminds the 1967 model.
The basic edition of the fifth generation Camaro gets the 323-hp, 3.6-liter V3 used in other GM cars, coupled to a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox. SS Camaro borrows a 6.2-liter V-8 Corvette, which offers it in two detuned powers – the 400 hp version with 6 speed auto speed, and a 426 hp variant working with a 6 speed manual. Conversion version available for SS and V-6 models.
New for 2012 is the ZL1, a 580 hp magnitude beast that drives a magnetic damper and looks more fierce than the SS. Join the 2013 model year with a convertible edition.
The older Camaro has been booed for the clumsy handling of the rear end of the axle; The fifth-generation Camaro drove an independent rear suspension and drove nicely, smoother, and with less twitch than ever. That’s a lot more with the SS and with its 1LE package, which receives identical tires from the back, rigid anti-roll booths, and other suspension revisions to provide neutral and ready track handling. The Camaro even offers a special edition of Hot Wheels for nostalgic collectors.
The updated 2014 Camaro brings a slightly redefined appearance, including a somewhat significant visual rearrangement of the front end, with narrow headlamps and a grid opening up adding a dose of aggression. (The ZL1 model maintains an older front end for better cooling.) The 2014 Camaro also sees the return of the famous Z / 28 model – with a form inspired from a louder track than before.
Camaro 2015 continues update 2014 basically unchanged. Chevy offers several special editions, including the Green Flash and Commemorative Edition models, which are played with aesthetics and add various options to create new packages.
