2025’s Most Anticipated Electric SUVs

Electric SUVs are some of the hottest vehicles going right now, and automakers can’t seem to get them to market fast enough.

The movement away from sedans and toward SUVs is profoundly present in the electric vehicle market, as much as it is in the rest of the automotive world. Some of the most anticipated new EVs are SUVs that provide drivers wit the complete balance of versatility, spaciousness, and electric power to make them easy to drive and a little bit fun.
Here are some of the most anticipated electric SUVs for 2025.

Tesla Model Y

For the past five years, the Tesla Model Y has been a regular sight on American roads, but five years is long enough for this SUV to require a bit of a refresh and upgrade. The Model Y has been the most popular electric vehicle for the past few years, and a styling refresh for the 2025 model makes perfect sense. This upgraded vehicle comes in line with the Model 3 sedan, which was updated for the 2024 model year, giving the Model Y a more modern appearance.

Honda Prologue

The 2025 Honda Prologue is one of the most anticipated electric SUVs of the year. The Prologue utilizes the GM Ultium battery platform, creating an excellent SUV that drives right and delivers the Honda experience you’re after. This is the second model year for the Prologue, but it receives a few updates to make it more enticing, including a more powerful front-mounted electric motor that makes it more enjoyable when you’re behind the wheel.

Chevrolet Equinox EV

Entering the Chevy world of electric driving comes to you in the form of the Equinox EV. The Bolt is not part of the conversation any longer, and this small but capable SUV has what you need in the compact crossover world. The FWD model has the best driving range, but you can get up to 300 horsepower from the dual-motor AWD version and enjoy some spirited driving. The Equinox EV is only in its second model year, but it receives increases in power and torque to give you more of what you want when you’re ready for a more exciting drive.

Acura RSX

The second Acura electric SUV should arrive later this year as a 2026 model-year offering. The Acura RSX is one of the most anticipated electric SUVs and will revive a name from the early 2000s. This small crossover is expected to have a sloping roofline for a coupe-like profile and utilizes the Honda 0-series EV platform. This makes the RSX the first vehicle from the brand to use this new platform, signaling the departure from the GM Ultium platform.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio EV

Stellantis is leaning hard into the electric vehicle world, and it’s about to impact the Alfa Romeo brand. The next generation of the exotic Stelvio SUV will be an electric model, which will ride on the STLA Large platform. This new generation will have electric and hybrid powertrains, but the electric SUV is expected to arrive first. The Stelvio EV might hit dealers before the end of this year, but is more likely to go on sale in 2026, ushering in a new movement for the brand.

BMW iX5

Although it’s not one of the most anticipated electric SUVs of 2025, its worth mentioning that the next version of the BMW X5 will be electrified. BMW has been slowly working toward electric SUVs, and the new iX5 is expected to hit the market as a 2027 model. This compact SUV will use a version of the CLAR platform that is currently being utilized by the iX. This should allow the gas-powered X5 to coexist with the new electric model for a few years. The BMW iX5 could be revealed in 2026 and then go on sale in the U.S. in early 2027.

BMW iX3

Before we get the larger model, the iX3 will appear. This electric SUV should be part of the lineup before the end of 2025 and will be positioned below the iX in the mix. A concept model has been shown, wearing an unorthodox new design language with a much different interpretation of the kidney grille than what we are used to seeing. The cabin is simplified with a massive screen across the dashboard, which is becoming a common theme among new vehicles.

These seven vehicles are some of the most anticipated electric SUVs of 2025 and beyond. Will you find yourself behind the wheel of any of these electric SUVs in the future?
