2018 Honda Ridgeline is the most comfortable truck you can drive today. It has the capabilities many casual buyers want, but this is not an option for heavy-duty users.

Many buyers choose trucks based on their most extreme and occasional needs. They often end up with large size pickups filled with lots of capabilities but also big price tags and clumsy handling. Some get mid-size pickups that are cheaper but still have shocks, truck drivers and handling. One truck can be smarter purchased for buyers who do not need all that capability.

2018 Honda Ridgeline Performance

2018 Honda Ridgeline is the best midsize truck in terms of riding and handling, but lacks some of the key capabilities of its body-on-frame competitor.

If you haul your family or even board a medium-size ship, the Honda Ridgeline will work for you. It can not be as exciting as some of the competitors, but it is smoother and more organized down the street than they are, getting their performance for the show in our book.
Ridgeline is based on the Honda Pilot SUV.

It makes a front-drive unibody vehicle, unlike all its competitors, which is the rugged and rear body-on-frame truck. Its structure provides a definite advantage in terms of driving character. Ridgeline drives like a car, or at least an SUV crossover. It sits lower than its competitors, drives more controlled, and rides more smoothly.

The ridgeline has a central support lever, hydraulic suspension ring, dual-action silencer, and, when fitted with an all-wheel drive, rear torque drive system that uses electrohydraulic couplings to move power from side to side.

Compared to other midsize trucks, this car fouled corners with agility, and rode without a typical body-on-frame vehicle that curved and vibrated. Actually, he handles bumps better than the Honda Pilot, at least the Pilot who rides the 20-inch alloy wheels available. Strengthening the bed in the middle also seems to give a bit of body stiffness rather than its brother SUV Ridgeline.

Ridgeline is not intended to be an off-roader. It offers an all-wheel drive, but does not have a low range, although it has a variety of modes that use electronics to deal with different conditions.

The front-drive model has Snow mode with second gear, while the all-wheel-drive version gets the Mud and Sand mode which alters the transmission shift schedule to hold the lower gears, move more power to the rear wheels, and change the throttle and Settings Traction-control to allow more steering wheel.

Ground clearance is feasible at 7.9 inches, but the rear control arm only leaves a distance of about 6 inches. Approach and departure angle can not compete with the off-road edition of competing trucks.

As for payload, Ridgeline is above 1,569 pounds, which corresponds to Chevrolet Colorado. However, the maximum drawing capacity is 5,000 pounds versus 7,000 for the Chevy. That’s enough to handle a 22-foot-high boat or carry 40 mulch bags, and still have enough blows.
