For almost 20 years, the Lexus SC is a major two-door coupe of luxury cars and convertibles. From the beginning, it combines a respectable performance with the driving comfort Lexus had ever expected. However at the end of its operations in 2010, the SC 430 hardtop convertible was dated and generally unattractive compared to other European competitors. After an eight year hiatus – during that time we have seen inspirational results from Lexus’ LFA supercar and RC F-Lexus coupe back in the mid-sized luxury coupe business with LC 2018 500. And unlike its latest SC predecessor, the LC 500 thoroughly delivers as a great entrant Thrilling yet livable.
The high performance part of this high-powered coupe comes from a 5.0 liter V8. It’s the same as the one found on RC F, but a bit stronger and good for 471 horsepower. It is paired with a new 10 speed automatic transmission (yes, 10) that drives the rear wheels. For convenience, the Lexus fits with an LC with adjustable suspension and a truly magical cabin. From the pads in the footwell to the headliner, almost every surface is covered with high-quality leather or suede. That the new LC also has a jaw dropping style also helps.
There are some disadvantages, such as the Lexus Remote Touch infotainment interface, which is heavy and frustrating, and the lack of adjustment possibilities. But overall we are very thinking about the LC 500. It is evident that the Lexus can favor a luxury performance coupe standing on tiptoe with some of the most elite grand travelers sold today.
2018 Lexus LC 500
It’s easy to recommend a special trim for 2018 Lexus LC 500 because there is only one version available. However, there are some desired packages that will give a special touch on your luxury coupe. Although we think LC offers excellent outdoor visibility for sports cars, we recommend adding the Convenience package for blind spot monitoring. The superior leather layers Touring pack and head suede flare suede are also a nice touch. The Sport Package is an interesting alternative to Touring, but we found the thick buffer from the sports seat to be a bit too expensive for all but the most slender of the drivers.

2018 Lexus LC 500 drive
In addition to the LFA supercar, this is very likely a sporty Lexus coupe ever made. For a grand touring car, the LC 500 can fax a sufficient hardcore sports car with the transmission and suspension set to Sport + mode.
There is a huge boost of the 5.0 liter V8 from the phone, and it does not spin a bit far until you reach the lap range over each gear. 10 speed automatic crawling.
We tortured the brakes on the racetrack and they did not fade, so they should not have much trouble to slow down the LC on the mountain road. They are easy to modulate while driving on a typical path, especially considering how much power is available at full stomp.
The steering is precise and predictable in almost any situation. It’s also fast, and you can do lots of rounds with just one full wheel spin. Wheels do not offer like many roads as we want in a sports coupe. The whole system is above average.
There is very little body movement even as you change direction quickly. The difference in stiffness between Comfort and Sport mode is seen, more than in most sports cars.
In Comfort mode, suspension, engine and transmission are all easy to do. You can travel long and very relaxed. In Sport +, the transmission shift is very fast and the engine is loud. In that mode, the LC 500 is one of the most aggressive Lexuses we’ve ever drove.
