To inhale the G80 Sport, Genesis swiped a 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 from a larger G90, hooking it up with an eight-speed automatic transmission of Hyundai, and planting both under the hood. Easy peasy.
The Genesis (and Hyundai before) uses the same transmission aspirated G80 engine, a 3.1-liter 3.1-liter 3.8-liter V-6 and a 5.0-liter 5.0-liter 5.0-liter V-6. As with the G90, when burning premium fuel, the 3.3 liter turbo is rated 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of consistent torque beats from 1.00 rpm to 4,500 rpm. So while the turbo V-6 produces 55 horses to the V-8, it produces only 7 lb-ft less snort, reaching the peak torque at a much lower spin (V-8 requires 5000 rpm to reach its max), and sustains the production of torque On a larger portion of its operating range. The ratio in the G80 Sport gearbox remains the same as in the 3.8 V-6 and 5.0 V-8 models with the fifth on the direct drive and the sixth, seventh, and eighth all overdrives. The turbo model also shares a 3.91: 1 final drive ratio with naturally aspirated V-6 instead of the 3.54: 1 ratio used with the V-8. And yes, there is a manual-shifting mode that can be controlled with a paddle that is right behind the wheel.
