2018 Chevrolet Cruze Sedan Hatchback

2018 Chevy Cruze offers plenty of compelling reasons to choose it

2018Chevrolet Cruze is a compact car that is offered in a very diverse set of configurations: sedan or hatchback, automatic or manual, gas or diesel.
Chevy Cruze is available at L, LS, LT, and Premier trim levels, though not all trims are available in both body styles. This year, the Cruze hatchback version adds the diesel engine as an extra cost option and there is a new color of Satin Steel Gray Metallic paint.

Most Cruzes are equipped with a small 4-cylinder turbocharged gas engine that has 153 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. An optional 1.6-liter turbo diesel engine at 137 hp and 240 lb-ft, but his most impressive figure is the fuel economy rating of 52 mpg. Cruze is offered with a 6-speed automatic or manual transmission, plus an automatic 9 speed that is exclusive to turbodiesel. All models are tuned more for comfort than for performance, but we’ve found the Cruze ranks to be quiet, comfortable, and structured even when driven hard. They are no longer entertaining, even with optional RS packages, but they deliver what the buyer most wants.

We recommend the more spacious Chevy Cruze hatchback. It is a utility player, with 47 cubic feet of cargo space, which rivals some of Chevy’s small crossover SUVs for luggage.

One of the important drawbacks, however, is the Cruze substandard safety record. We do not have complete test data, but the overall overall rating of NHTSA is an eyebrow for a model that was redesigned last year. In addition, even the priciest Cruze can not be equipped with high-tech safety features such as automatic emergency braking. That’s surprising considering the technology is now standard on some of Cruze’s main competitors.

2018 Chevrolet Cruze Styling

Outside, the Cruze look is toned and crisp, especially with the optional RS package that adds a sporty looking body kit. The package can be installed on certain LT and Premier models, depending on other options. Hatchback Cruze is very neat on the back, with rear design and rear bumper diffuser.
One caveat: The base Cruze L and LS trim comes standard with a 15-inch dobik mask dobut wheel that looks gorgeous under the class. Further and more competitors get rid of the hubcaps that support the standard alloy wheels, and given the rather premium price of the Cruze, it’s a surprise to see this wheelbase as standard.

Inside, all Cruzes boast a clean and simple dashboard design. Buttons and switches are sparse, yet styled easily. 7.0-inch touch screen infotainment system is standard in the lineup, which further elevates the interior of this small car. Higher trim levels like Cruze LT and Premier can be ordered with saddle-colored leather seats that look very rich – as in sticker prices that can reach $ 30,000 with every option selected.

2018 Chevrolet Cruze Performance

Multiple options and Chevy Cruze transmission options make it an attractive choice for drivers.

2018 Chevrolet Cruze is available in a variety of flavors-nothing is very tame, but nothing will make your heart beat fast.

Most Cruzes are equipped with a turbo-4 capacity of 1.4 liters with 153 hp of torque and 177 lb-ft of torque. It’s quite smooth, but it does not give the Cruze a pretty lithe with an overwhelming drone when mated to an optional 6-speed automatic. Manual 6 speed standard and offer good shift action paired with light and easy clutch. The 1.6-liter turbodiesel inline-4 engine was added last year and is now available in sedan and hatchback bodies with 6 speed manual or 9 speed automatic.

Turbodiesel tries to fill the void left by Volkswagen’s departure from this segment (after disaster recognition that they are deliberately deceiving EPA emissions testing).
For the most part, this small diesel motor is a gem. With 137 hp torque and 240 lb-ft of torque, this is not a rocket, but the engine is almost silent and the wide torque spreads easily. 9-speed automatic shift with little hesitation; We have not piloted the 6 speed manual.

All Cruze models have the same suspension tuning regardless of wheel and tire package. They took the bumps quietly, almost like a small luxury sedan. Electric power steering gives the driver a bit of a way, but weighs well and helps the Cruze pierce the winding road well.
Competitors from Mazda and Hyundai are more sporty, but Cruze fulfills its mid-way mission well.

Certain versions-prime-top-range and certain LTs that come with the RS or Redline package-have a more sophisticated rear suspension with Z-link designs that help them cross the corners with a bit more calm, but take a long time. -to get back to driving to really feel the difference.
All versions are quiet and comfortable highway cruisers, with excellent straight stability and little road noise. The hatchback filters out a bit of street noise from the sedan-but, again, you have to do a back-to-back comparison to really notice the difference.

2018 Chevrolet Cruze Comfort & Quality

The Cruze offers superb stretching space for adults with average size in all four outboard positions; The rear-seat rider was making things tight in the backseat, but that was unexpected. The standard fabric linings on all but Primer leather are installed there and there is also an option on the Cruze LT. With a cloth chair, the Cruze has a manually adjustable driver’s seat in six directions, but an adjustable eight-lane power unit with lumbar is a valuable option. The standard Cruze fabric is a firm and durable feeling, but the available skin has a nice grain for it that feels one or two classes above.

In terms of interior material quality, the average Cruze for its segment apart from the available leather. A soft touch, fine grained trim is present in front, but there is a harder plastic in the back seat.

Even the Cruze sedan is spacious, with nearly 14 cubic feet of luggage space (14.8 cubic feet for L and LS models). Posterior hatchback balloon to more than 24 cubes and maxes about 47 cubic feet with rear backrest folded. It is said that some hatchback competitors are much here thanks to the way the rear window Cruze slid more aggressively than other mini wagon rivals such as Ford Focus and Subaru Impreza.
