The 2018 Cadillac CTS puts German opponents on handling notice.

We’re close to reaching Peak Crossover SUVs, which means great cars like Cadillac CTS 2018 seem unrivaled.
Too bad. With a brilliant CTS, Cadillac puts itself on par with the Mercedes E-Class and Audi A6, whether it’s a basic model, or a single Luxury trim, or VSTS CTS.

No need to bring hidden items here, CTS tells you what packing is. Sharply pressed metal sheets use LED lights that flow right into the sidewalk, the back of a stack of exhaust ports. The cabin was quiet, almost to the point of calmness.

Performance comes from the turbo-4 268-horsepower, 335-hp V-6, or turbo-620-hp turbo-6. Start with the 6-cylinder and you will not leave unimpressed. It will run up to 60 mph in 6 seconds, with grand-touring trust. VSport wants blood; it hit down the 60-mph figure in 4.7 seconds.

An 8-speed automatic clip paddle-shifted releases a clean shift across all models. All but VSport can be configured with all-wheel drive.
Because it has a smaller ATS structure, CTS has a nimble steering and improper road tracking, and optional adaptive shocks are more valuable than the price.

What CTS does not have is a large back seat, or luggage. The sturdy and thick front seats are prepared for great comfort, but the rear seat rider has to duck under a low roof to enter, and may find the headroom comfortable.

NHTSA says CTS is a safe five-star, but IIHS gave it a “marginal” rating in its toughest test. Cadillac offers blind-spot monitors and forward-collision warnings, but CTS does not yet have automatic emergency braking.
It’s a gorge on other technological equipment. A 12.3-inch digital display features virtual instruments, while an 8.0-inch screen featuring infotainment includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A rear camera mirror and a power cup holder award the most expensive model.

For 2018, Cadillac adds a steering wheel that is heated automatically. The earth is not shaken. CTS will remain a highly underappreciated car. Unless you listen to us, it is.

Cadillac CTS 2018 transmits the other side with steam-pressed paths and stunning LED illumination.

Cadillac must have been bought at the company’s straight-edge GM. Other brands have to wait their turn while cars like CTS cut corners but light in the air.
CTS has not been much touched since the new in 2014. There has been no dramatic change. The shape is sleek and seductive like a Cadillac. The rear light is higher, the front end hugs the ground a little closer.

Still CTS jaw dropping with Le Mans style LED lights three years ago. The signature’s lighting was as much like rings of fire on every back end of Dodge, or eyebrows on the Audi line.
Cadillac has made a change that drives puritans: badges no longer wearing bouquets around the tops.

The cabin soothes the outside world, without a sudden angle. Single stack of dash trim pieces, and leather blend with wood over the version to spur the CTS atmosphere. It’s handsome and can be dramatic with one of Cadillac’s two-tone interior options.

The big screen is the dominant feature of the CTS cabin: twin 8.0 inch touch screen with 5.7 inch monitor between gauges or, on higher trim, 12.3 inch panels that replace gauges. All lit up, the cockpit struck a futuristic note.

2018 Cadillac CTS Performance

CTS has much in common under the hood with smaller ATs. A 268-horsepower turbo-4 motivates the basic model. With premium gas was 295 lb-ft of torque, and can drive the rear wheels or four wheels. An 8 speed automatic handles the shift well, but the turbo-4 pair gets an acceptable speed (0-60 mph in 6 seconds) with a grotty sound that is covered almost, but not entirely, with active noise cancellation.
Directs to the V-6 CTS sedan, and the performance results increase along with the luxurious feel. 3.6 liter V-6 unspools 335 hp and 285 lb-ft and make a quick work hole in traffic. No torque walls, only consistent and predictable speed. Faded into the commuter background or brightened the weekend banquet with this one.

In both cases, CTS can handle itself. Suspension strut-and-five-link stock, power assist power steering, and 17-inch wheels and tires cut the net line through the bend. Special steering is beautiful, as it is not juice on steroidal amounts of artificial weight.

We have spent most of our CTS time in V-6 cars with adaptive shocks. Controlled by reactive magnetic fluid, adaptive dampers provide a smooth and smooth ride, the next sporty damping. Never controlled or drift, CTS is almost as agile with smaller ATs, and has a remarkable sense of stability.

The one-time climb, but not out of the CTS range, is a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V-6 engine planted under the hood of a V-Sport. It has learned lessons from hot sedans like the Audi S6 and even the Lexus GS F Sport. It serves 420 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque, and exists only with rear-wheel drive and 8-shift auto motor shift.

GM pegs 0-60 mph times in 4.6 seconds and top speed at 170 mph. This is unfortunate on paper compared to the V-8 550i twin-turbo, but because it is relatively light – at 3,616 pounds on the base trim – V-Sport is a vibrant straight-line player.
VSport gets a lot of upgrade handling, including Pirelli 18-inch tires (19 inches is upgraded); faster steering ratio; track mode for magnetic damping, steering, throttle, and point shifting; differential electronic slip-differential; and larger front brakes.

They all compile beautifully, with more nuance than all their digital inputs suggest.
In the 18-inch summer tires, the CTS V-Sport grips the ground with fanatics, requiring a path through the fetters and famous essays, piping the soundtrack through downshift cabin after downshift.

CTS only provides enough rear back room to face the trunk is very small.
With an interior volume of 110.7 cubic feet, Cadillac CTS meets technical standards to be called a medium size car.

Do the engineers go? Can we talk? It’s suitable for stat sheets, but CTS just slips into the medium-sized luxury flows, because it saves on some interior spaces that we can actually use.

Up front, the 20-way seat supports almost every part of your body. Wide and deep chisels in the upholstery ensure long-distance comfort, and the bottom layer only cuts a little headroom.

The back seats trim more. The 35.4-inch rear space allocated to passengers is not very generous, compared to the E-Class. The low roof line will knock on the head without the smooth duck movement. The seat cushion is rather low, as it divides the distinction between lots of space and a sleek shape.
CTS is quiet, thanks to active noise cancellation that helps the turbo-4 the most. We were mesmerized by the cool CTS interior trim model, from a 12.3-inch large screen to semi-aniline (more natural) leather.
