2018 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe Review and Price
It has been four years since the BMW 4 Series debuted. On average, a vehicle in this class runs seven to eight years before being replaced, with a mid-cycle refresh right in the middle. That’s the case with the latest BMW 2018 Series, a car that epitomizes the luxury sports coupe class. Amid tough competition from newly redesigned rivals, the stakes are high for refreshing this spring.
Expectations are high, but changes to the new 4 Series are not many. As well as we know this model, identifying updates is a very difficult task. After spending a lot of time behind the wheel of the 2018 BMW 440i, however, we can confidently state that both the new Audi S5 and Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG have the advantage over 440i. It is said that this BMW does not deserve to be crossed from your list – far from it.

2018 BMW 440i Overviews
When it comes to view, refresh Series 4 hardly moves the needle. Up front, there are new standard LED headlamps with more slanted accent lights and a slightly repaired front apron (horizontal air inlet under the bumper). New LED back lights, improved rear apron and several new wheel designs complete the rest of the exterior changes. Inside, most significant changes include available virtual instrument panels and a tile-based infotainment interface. Fine modifications to the steering wheel, seams and trim trim finishes are largely unnoticed. BMW also suspended suspension for improved handling and output on 440i has increased to 326 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque (increased only 6 hp and 2 lb-ft).
Otherwise, the Series 4 remains unchanged. You can choose between coupe, Gran Coupe convertible and four-door body styles, all of which are offered as 430i cylinder four or 440i six cylinder cylinders. BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system is also available for all latest models. We focus primarily on the 440i coupe with standard features that include automatic transmissions (manuals available at no cost), 18 inch wheels, sunlight safety mirrors, auto-dimming, automatic climate control, power sports seats, SensaTec synthetic leather. Upholstery, rearview camera and premium Harman Kardon audio system.
Bundled options include Premium packages (heated front seats, navigation systems with traffic, emergency telematics and updated instrument panel); M Sport package (unique exterior aerodynamic and cosmetic elements, higher performance tires, sport suspension, top speed and sport steering wheel); Tracking Handling Package (updated brake, adaptive suspension and variable steering wheel); And Executive package (adaptive headlamps, automatic fast beam, surround-view camera system, auto parking system and head-up screen). Other add-ons include larger wheels, adaptive cruise control, Apple CarPlay, wireless cushion, additional leather upholstery, heated steering wheel, blind spot monitoring, forward collision mitigation and lane departure warning system.
2018 BMW 440i Performance
The 440i six-cylinder engine gets the coupe for speed without speed. The engine and exhaust sounds very fierce, enhanced by sound synthesized through its interior speakers. Four cylinder 430i is also more than enough to build the driver with a more aggressive engine and a malignant exhaust sound. Unfavorable weather conditions and our winter tires can no longer be more extreme, but overall, these 440i are as confident and accomplished as their predecessors.
Likewise, the refreshing 4 series also gives value in terms of comfort. Adaptive suspension refines imperfections in Comfort mode and, even in the most aggressive Sport + mode, the bumps still do not bother you. Road and wind noise is silenced by luxury car standards, both in coupe and convertible body styles. After several hours of touring, the seats are free of difficult things and deliver. Again, there’s no significant change ahead of this and that’s great.

2018 BMW 440i Interior
Just like the rest of the BMW 4 Series 2018, the interior only saw some minor changes. The biggest difference is the way iDrive infotainment systems deliver content. The main screen can be divided into three sections to present a mix of music, goals, maps and communication. It’s a bit more comfortable than having to press a button by the call controller because your chosen tiles can always be displayed.
A virtual instrument panel is now available on the 2018 BMW 4 Series, strayed from simple simple traditional BMW platters. Switching between Comfort, Eco and Sport modes changes the color and style of the gauges while typical driver information still exists. It’s not as powerful or very modern as Audi, but it’s still a touch of interest in BMW’s normal layout. Other changes throughout the cabin are mostly limited to trim materials, so you will not notice unless you jump out of the previous model.
One of the areas where this 4 series shines is in cargo capacity. The stem coupe measures 15.7 cubic feet, which is more space than other cars in the same class. Convertible is limited to 13.1 cubic feet, which is still better than average, but the folding mechanism on the side greatly reduces its usefulness. Among folding hardtops, however, this is a small price to pay.
On its own merits, the 2018 BMW 440i is a luxury sports coupe that is great for you to try. It does it all well and if it is the only car in the class you test-drive, you will never regret buying it. But that’s not what we suggest. Competition is too strong. In particular, the Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG is hard to ignore thanks to its athleticism and elegant interiors. Then there’s the Audi S5, which now sits on top of this class with perfect performance, modern design and high tech supremacy. In some ways, the BMW 4 Series divides the difference between rivals, but you will not know if that’s enough until you drive all three.
2018 BMW 440i Price
The price of the 2018 BMW 440i starts around $ 43,000 for the two-door 430i Coupe or the four-door Gran Coupe. Conversion costs about $ 7,000 more, while the 440i model starts from the $ 50,000 range. BMW XDrive all-wheel-drive system will make a return of $ 2,000.
